Steps to Peace with God

Step 1 - God loves you and He wants you to live in peace with Him and to receive eternal life.

The Bible says:

• "God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him should not perish but have eternal life." (John 3:16)

• "...we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ." (Romans 5:1)

• "...but the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord." (Romans 6:23)

Step 2 - Our problem: Sin and Separation 

​

God did not make us robots to mindlessly love and obey him. Instead he gave us a will and freedom of choice. But, we often choose to disobey God and go our own selfish ways. We have all done, thought or said bad things, which the Bible calls "sin". Our sin separates us from God. It brings death - spiritual separation from God.

The Bible says:

• "For all have sinned, and fall short of the glory of God." (Romans 3:23)

• "For the wages of sin is death..." (Romans 6:23)

Step 3 - God's remedy: The Cross

​

Jesus died in our place to pay the penalty for our sins - bridging the gap between us and God. Because of that we can now have a relationship with God. 

The Bible says:

• "God demonstrates His own love for us in this: While we were still sinners, Christ died for us." (Romans 5:8)

• "For there is one God and one mediator between God and mankind, the man Christ Jesus." (1 Timothy 2:5)

• "Very truly I tell you, whoever hears my word [Jesus] and believes him who sent me has eternal life and will not be judged but has crossed over from death to life." (John 5:24)

It didn't end with His death on the cross. He rose again and still lives!

• "Christ died for our sins. ...He was buried. ...He was raised on the third day, according to the Scriptures." (1 Corinthians 15:3-4)

• Jesus said, "I am the way, and the truth, and the life; no one comes to the Father, but through Me." (John 14:6)

Step 4 - Our Response: Receive Christ

​

Would you like to receive God's forgiveness? We can't earn salvation; we are saved by God's grace when we have faith in His Son, Jesus Christ. All you have to do is believe you are a sinner, that Christ died for your sins, and ask for His forgiveness. Then turn from your sins - that's called repentance. Jesus Christ knows you and loves you. You can receive Jesus Christ when you believe in His message and trust Him alone to save you.

How to receive Christ?

​

1.  Admit your need - that you are a sinner.

2. Be willing to turn from your sins (repent). 

3. Believe that Jesus Christ died for you on the cross and rose from the grave. 

4. Through prayer, invite Jesus Christ to come in and control your life through the Holy Spirit. (Receive him as your Savior.)

What to Pray:

​

Dear Lord Jesus, I know that I am sinful and I need your forgiveness. I believe that you died to pay the penalty for my sin. I want to turn from my sins and follow you. I invite you to come into my heart and life. In Jesus' name. Amen.

​

If you sincerely prayed this prayer and asked Jesus Christ to come into your life, you are born into God's family through the supernatural work of the Holy Spirit, who indwells every believer. This is called being "born again". The Bible says, "Therefore, since we have been justified through faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ." (Romans 5:1) When you accept Christ, God makes you His own child. You are in God's family and you can live with him forever in heaven. The Bible says, "He who has the Son has life; whoever does not have the Son of God does not have life. I write these things to you who believe in the name of the Son of God, so that you may know that you have eternal life..." (1 John 5:12-13)
